We are loving our LFL. The double door shed has plenty of room for books, and we loved painting it and adding something fun to our neighborhood. It’s only been up for a few days, but we’ve already had lots of visitors.

The build and everything looks sturdy. We bought the biggest library we could get so we can put more books in. A HUGE drawback is the size of the depth of the shelves. Which docked off 3 stars easily, I almost did took off 4 stars. We can’t even put an average size children’s book in there (the bottoms shelf) then the top shelf is slanted towards the back making it even harder to put books in. Sturdy wood and built but very very poorly designed. We plan on making more libraries available but we will most definitely not be using the site to buy anymore libraries to build. Very disappointed to get the biggest one and is essentially not very usable.

Well made cabinet, but needs wood prep and window glazing before painting. Sturdy synthetic mounting post & brackets

It is a cute little library, but it’s not very deep so you can’t fit most children’s books. Just another inch would fit more variety of books. So I’m slightly disappointed, especially since this is the biggest one.

We loved buying the pre-made LFL! It allowed us to paint and customize how we wanted, all while being able to trust that it was sturdy and the best build it could possibly be :)

I am very happy with my purchase. Excellent quality and craftsmanship. I love how you are able to design your LFL with add-ons and by choosing your own color scheme. We’ve just installed it and already have had several compliments. It’s a fun family activity that we highly recommend.

I absolutely love this library. I knew I wanted one with two shelves - one for kids books and one for grown up books. I love the two doors - it makes it feel like the world’s smallest book shop. Something about the size makes it feel extra welcoming and we’ve had a fantastic response from neighbors. It’s extremely well crafted.

We deeply appreciate the mission and intent of Little Free Library in fostering education and community engagement. This initiative is truly inspiring, and we were excited to support it by purchasing three of the "Double Door Shed Unfinished Little Free Libraries." That said, I must be honest about the disappointing quality of the product we received. While the libraries were packed and shipped with exceptional care and expedience, the craftsmanship of the final product fell short of expectations. For instance: Plexiglass/Acrylic: Although the panels fit perfectly in the doors, the edges were cut jaggedly, as if done on a table saw with an improper blade. While this isn’t visible when assembled, it raised an early concern about quality control. Corner Pieces: One corner piece arrived cracked, which was disheartening for a new product. Wood Sanding: The wood surfaces were poorly sanded, leaving visible sanding marks—especially on the bottom shelf. This suggests low-grit sandpaper was used without proper finishing. Plywood Quality: The plywood used for the walls was not of the quality I expected for the price. It was neither Baltic birch nor a comparable grade, with split edges and insufficient sanding. Construction Lumber: The majority of the library’s body appeared to be constructed from basic construction-grade lumber (2x4s), which was unexpected for a product of this nature and price. While sturdy, it detracts from the refined look I envisioned and is not ideal for fine woodworking or finishing. Door Construction: The doors are assembled with Kreg Pocket Screws, which is fine in theory, but the screw holes on top of the doors were left exposed, potentially allowing moisture to seep in. Additionally, some screws were overdriven during assembly, causing cracks in the wood. We’ve already invested in these libraries and will make the best of them, but given the premium price, I had much higher expectations for workmanship and material quality. I hope this feedback helps improve future products, as the mission and vision behind Little Free Library deserve to be matched by a superior product.

First off, a big fan of the Little Free Libraries. I have hosted one for three years and am very pleased. We had bought a small one, and our generous neighbors inspired me to purchase this larger one. Inspired meaning dropping off multiple boxes of books! This one is ery well-made - arrived promptly in excellent condition. The problem was me - I did not carefully read the dimensions and features. The shelves are fixed in place, which makes it very difficult to display many of the different size books we get. Second, and this is most important, I bought it in part because people have been donating books too large for the small box, specifically picture books and coffee table books. So I thought the bigger one would work. Nope, because I did not realize that it is taller BUT more shallow. So books that fit in the first smaller box won't fit in this one - and because of the shallower dimension and fixed shelves the bigger books won't fit. Fortunately, I have a good friend who is an excellent carpenter. He is going to take both boxes apart, borrow pieces from both, add pieces, strengthen the post, and create exactly what I need - deep and tall - with adjustable shelving. Next time, I will read the information better.
